Hello Students! We hope everyone is doing well as we head into the holiday break. As classes start to wind down this is the perfect time to look for jobs and update your resume, and we’re reaching out to share an exciting announcement about our newest tools for students with the introduction of our Job Search and Labor Market Insights modules in our new virtual career hub.
At UCSD Extended Studies we know just how important a factor salary is when it comes to choosing your career and major, and are here to equip you with the tools to set you up for success, both in your search and salary negotiations. You can now search for jobs and expected salaries nationwide allowing you to both explore and prepare for a potential career by gaining insight into the context, requirements, and demand for potential occupations within your industry of interest.
How to Use – Labor Market Insights:
- Click the ‘Labor Market Insights’ button on the top right of our virtual career hub.
- Search on the ‘Find Career Data by Selecting Keywords’ tab, or select the ‘Or, By Filtering for Industry and Occupation’.
- Visit any community in the main navigation menu of our virtual career hub under ‘Explore Career Paths’ or ‘Build Career Skills’, and select ‘Labor Market Insights’, like this example in our ‘Technology’ and ‘Create a Resume/Cover Letter’ communities.
How to Use – Job Search Module:
- Click the ‘Search Jobs/Internships’ button on the top right of our virtual career hub. Fill out the fields for the type of job or internship you are interested in.
- Select ‘Search Jobs and Internships’ from the blue menu in any career community, to view curated jobs in that industry, like this example in our ‘Business and Leadership’ career pathway community.
Once you’ve set the search criteria for any occupation you’ll be able to find information to apply about the core tasks, employment trends, education levels, annual earnings and more! This data is updated regularly to ensure you are researching the most up-to-date findings. We are excited for you to take advantage of these new tools to help guide you on your career journey.
